Research

In a knowledge-based economy, innovation creates new value and differentiates products and services. In a global economy, competitive advantage is achieved by access to the best research and thought leaders.

The University of York is making its world class research base more accessible to both business and the public sector and seeking to create new partnerships and collaborations to have real impact on both the economy and the public good regionally, nationally and internationally.

The Enterprise and Innovation Office is a team with recent business and public sector experience with strong academic qualifications. The team is dedicated to working closely with companies and the public sector and is building long term strategic relationships for mutual benefit.

It is creating new opportunities for research partnerships, spinning out new companies from University research, licensing intellectual property, identifying new opportunities for Continuing Professional Development programmes and building a growing enterprise culture with placements for students and graduates in Knowledge Transfer Programmes and Shell Technology Enterprise Programmes.

The University of York is well placed to have real impact on the national and regional enterprise and innovation agenda. The Treasury’s Lambert Review of Business-University Collaboration cited York as a prime example of an excellent research-intensive university playing a key role at the centre of an internationally significant knowledge-intensive cluster.

Partner in the pioneering Science City York, the University also plays a key role in the White Rose Consortium bringing together the three leading research universities in Yorkshire –York, Leeds and Sheffield – in a powerful research triangle with very significant research strength and funding.

The top rated University for research in the North of England, York has world class research across disciplines. The University plans major growth in the coming decade. It is an excellent time to work with us and see how we can benefit your organisation.
