Tarique Ghaffur

Tarique Ghaffur is a former Assistant Commissioner of Metropolitan Police Service.
Education
He received his BA(Hons) in Public Administration and MA in Criminology from Manchester Metropolitan University.
Police Career
In 1974, Ghaffur joined the Greater Manchester Police where he reached the rank of Superintendent. In 1989 he transferred to Leicestershire Constabulary where he was appointed Assistant Chief Constable. Tarique transferred to the Metropolitan Police Service in 1999 reaching the rank of Deputy Assistant Commissioner and in 2000 served as Borough Commander of the City of Westminster. He was promoted to Assistant Commissioner in 2001 and headed three of the Metropolitan Police's Operational Command Units.
