Olympic Security Directorate (OSD) has been set up, under the Central Operations strand of the Metropolitan Police Service to coordinate an integrated approach to security at the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. This directorate brings together 23 partner agencies to provide safety, security and resilience, and ensure there is one overarching programme of activity when delivering security nationally for the Games.

Structure

Led by Deputy Assistant Commissioner Richard Bryan, the OSD is a new way of working for the MPS, as within it's Stratford headquarters a multi-agency approach has been adopted with members of partner agencies working together under one roof.

With a growing number of partner agencies it is anticipated that, where feasible, members of these organisations are to work alongside each other. Security planning for the Games is based on the wealth of experience held by all partner organisations within the OSD.
