Ken Brigden - Director MOD Counter Terrorism Science and Technology Centre, based at Porton Down. Ken took up his current post as Director MOD Counter Terrorism Science and Technology Centre in February 2006 charged with the task of creating and establishing the CT Centre.
Previous Work
Prior to this Ken led Electronics Department in Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) at Fort Halstead in Kent, one of the larger departments in Dstl with over 300 technical staff and an annual research and operational/technical support income of over £34M. Until his latest appointment Ken also had a part-time consultant role of Scientific Advisor to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) where his time was split between groups that would form part of the Serious and Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) and groups that would remain in HMRC on the establishment of SOCA in April 2006. Previously Ken was the Business Manager for Chemical and Electronic Systems Sector in Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA). Ken worked to establish the new Sector as a highly responsive CT operational support focused Sector which at the time provided the bulk of MOD’s Special Projects research and related technical support, later to become Energetics and Electronics Departments in Dstl.
