The International Landslide Centre was established in the Department of Geography in 2003 with the following aims:

  • To undertake fundamental research into landslide problems with a particular emphasis on less developed countries:
  • To provide direct assistance to communities affected by landslide disasters
  • Assist in the development of capabilities to cope with and mitigate against landslides in less developed countries
