The Government Office for the East Midlands (GOEM) has eleven government departments under one roof, making it the hub of central government in the East Midlands. Its aim is to work with regional partners and local people to maximise competitiveness and prosperity in the East Midlands. It wants to bring together government policies for a more inclusive society.
The GOEM bring together regional activities to meet the targets of our sponsor departments. These are:-

- Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG)
- Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS)
- Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF)
- Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA)
