History
Since 1989, Emergency Planning College (EPC) has been the Government's centre for running short seminars, workshops and courses on an inter–agency basis in the field of crisis management and emergency planning. Its diverse and dynamic programme attracts in excess of six thousand delegates per year from a wide range of backgrounds providing a national forum for discussion and the sharing of good practice.
Roles
The Emergency Planning College is the leading provider of training for emergency preparedness, attracting delegates with responsibility for preventing, planning for, responding to or recovering from a major incident.
It is the only permanent national forum for representatives of local and Central Government, the emergency services, the private sector and volunteer groups to network and share good practice.
As part of the Civil Contingencies Secretariat (CCS) the Emergency Planning College play a vital role in the Government's effort to improve the United Kingdom's resilience by offering a range of learning opportunities closely linked to the requirements of the Civil Contingencies Act (CCA):
