Andrew (Fitz) Fitzmaurice is an associate managing consultant with Defence Strategy & Solutions (DS&S)

Military Career

Andrew spent 18 years in the military specialising in air command & control. Highlights included 3 command tours, including an RAF Station, two MA tours as well as a secondment with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office on an international negotiating team. He finished his military career at the Joint Doctrine & Concepts Centre (now Development Concepts and Doctrine Centre) as Head of Projects & Resource Management in 2004.

Later Work

On leaving the military, he joined a management consultancy working for Government in the Intelligence, Resilience and Security arena. Work here has included developing framework contracts for the use of industry as well as doing strategic planning on an Information Assurance common good programme for the development of products and services for government. In early 2007, Fitz was deeply involved in producing a National Information Assurance Strategy launched in June 2007. Other work has included participation in a National Security Resilience Think Tank and aiding DCDC in the providing specialist comments on nano-technology and quantum computing. Fitz joined DS&S in Sep 2007 and has been assisting the Cabinet Office in developing delivery approaches for implementing the National Information Assurance Strategy. Latterly, he was a core member of the Cabinet Secretary’s Data Handling Review (DHR) Team, and is now assisting government departments to implement DHR and the associated Information Assurance governance regime.
